How to Share Your Faith In Five Easy Steps

Has there ever been a time when you have shared the story of how you met Jesus—the story of your salvation? No one wants to hear my story, do they? You’d be surprised at how many people are interested. You see, it’s one thing to talk about your faith from a purely intellectual standpoint—what you believe, your doctrinal stands, and so forth. But people want to know that your faith is more than a bunch of cold and calculated dictums or a set of traditions inherited from your forefathers. People want to know that your faith is real to you. They want to know how it has affected you on a heart-level. They want to know that Jesus is more than a vague historical figure—they want to know that he lives within your heart.

Now, people will brush off a canned presentations—they will tune out a memorized, regurgitated sales pitch out of some book. But they will listen (and listen with interest), when you unfold the events and circumstances that led you to faith in Jesus.

How do you share your testimony? Here are a few five easy steps:

1. Tell about life before becoming a Christian.
2. Explain how you realized your need for Christ.
3. Share when and how you responded to the Good News of salvation and how you received Jesus as Lord and Savior.
4. Talk about specific ways in which Christ has changed your life since becoming a Christian.
5. Talk about what the Lord is teaching you now.

Who should you share your testimony with? Your friends, neighbors, coworkers, roommate, children, parents, teachers—anyone and everyone you meet along the way (Mark 16:15). Make it real…make it personal. Remember, all God asks us to do is sow a seed—He will bring about the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).
