KEEP IT SIMPLE
During a flight on a small airplane, the flight attendant asked a passenger if he would like to have dinner.
“What are my choices?" the passenger asked.
"YES or NO," the flight attendant replied.
Don’t you wish every choice in life was that simple?
I’m a big fan of simplicity. I like my pizza with the fewest toppings possible. When I go to Starbucks, I like to be able to pronounce the name of the drink I’m ordering. My simple, down-to-earth approach extends to people, too. I don’t believe in holding grudges—too much wasted mental energy—I believe in live-and-let-live.
Too many people complicate their lives with bitterness and feuding. Ironically, it will also shorten your life! So why not choose to simplify?
It’s relieving to know that when we come to the Bible, God also likes to keep things simple in the realm of the spiritual. My favorite verse lately is 1 Corinthians 13:13, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
If you took all of our all of our ministries, good works, and church buildings, and boiled them down to just the essential elements, guess what would really matter? Faith, hope, and love. Those are the things that make a real and lasting difference in life. How high are they on your list of priorities?
